The 2019 Preparatory Records and the Pre-Public Form of LEFT-P

The earliest institutional records of LEFT-P identify 2019 as a preparatory year in which the League was conceived as a pre-public research and editorial project.

The planning group referred to in internal memory as the “Tübingen Left-Frontier Café Group” developed the first organisational outline for what would later become the League of Engaged Frontier Theory & Praxis. The record LEFT/PROJ/2019/001, “A Conception for an Organisation of Interventionist Frontier Theory,” names the task in a deliberately programmatic way: theory was to be organised not only as writing, but as a form of institutional intervention.

This early phase should be understood as a pre-public period. It involved restricted recruitment, exploratory meetings, discussion of possible research structures, and the formation of an editorial and theoretical vocabulary. The point was not publicity, but preparation: to determine whether a durable body of theoretical work could be sustained before the institution appeared publicly.

The 2019 materials therefore remain important for LEFT-P’s later self-understanding. They show that the League did not begin as a website or publication outlet, but as an attempt to give institutional form to public theoretical labour.
