Our Departments
LEFT-P is organized around a small number of interconnected departments. These departments function as working units rather than administrative divisions, and their activities are coordinated through shared editorial and conceptual commitments.
Case Cell
Department of Conceptual Research
Case Cell is the generative core of LEFT-P. Founded by members of the Executive Editorial Committee, the Cell provides a protected space for sustained conceptual research on philosophically demanding problem-fields. Its work unfolds through close reading, annotation, discussion, and exploratory argumentation. Much of the work conducted within Case Cell remains internal. For the Cell, this reflects a methodological commitment, that is, conceptual inquiry often requires shared proximity and provisional forms before it can responsibly enter public circulation.

Executive Editorial Committee
Department of Editorial Practice and Direction
The Executive Editorial Committee shapes the editorial and theoretical direction of LEFT-P. Beyond editorial coordination, the Committee maintains its own writing and publication plans. Editorial work within LEFT-P is understood not as management, but as a specific form of theoretical labor—one that determines how, when, and under what conditions conceptual work becomes public.

Translation & Philology Unit
Department of Translation and Philological Research
This unit is dedicated to the study of conceptual transformation across languages, traditions, and historical contexts. Translation is approached as a site of theoretical production rather than a secondary or technical activity. The unit supports both internal research and selected publication projects across the languages and traditions with which LEFT-P is engaged.

Theory & Praxis Program
Department of Engaged Theory and Public Intervention
The Theory & Praxis Program is responsible for LEFT-P’s external engagement, including public commentary, institutional dialogue, and theoretical intervention in contemporary debates. In addition to its own writing activities, the Program oversees LEFT-P’s external relations and public communications. It also coordinates the work of Critical Theory Institute Online (CTIedu.org), which operates as an affiliated institute under the auspices of LEFT-P. The Program maintains ongoing collaboration with Nouvelles Positions through shared editorial and theoretical exchanges.

Digital Infrastructure
Department of Digital and Editorial Infrastructure
This department maintains the technical and organizational conditions necessary for the sustained operation of LEFT-P, including domain architecture, communication systems, and publication workflows. Digital infrastructure is treated as a constitutive condition of theoretical practice for here.
